PROVOKED SPIRIT – Thu, May 05, 2018

1 Samuel 11:6-7 KJV

And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

[7] And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.

What is the feeling like, in the first few hours of your life after a major milestone in your life? For example, the day after you got married, earned your 1st degree, 1st business, etc.

For some people, there is a big disappointment, because nothing changes physically. I remember a sermon I heard sometime ago on the subject of being born again. At that moment, there’s no physical change.

The waakye you loved eating will still smell good to you. The taste of alcohol will not change in your mouth if you loved it. Physically things remain the same, but mentally and spiritually they don’t.

Saul was still tendering his father’s sheep even after he’d been crowned king. It took the Spirit of God and a precarious situation to provoke him to fight and assume his new role. Some conditions only come to wake you up from your slumber and get you kicking. Bless God for them, not the contrary.

Have a blessed day.
