And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beth-shean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

While in the promised land, a lot of things went on that were not part of the original plan. Before Moses passed on, he sternly stressed the need for the Jews to live alone; with no other foreign tribes.

Most of the non-Jewish tribes did very heinous things. They offered child sacrifices to their gods and worshipped God’s like Baal, that delighted in butchery and sadism. So the cry against them by many perished souls was very loud in God’s ears.

This is why God would not want any of such practitioners in the midst of Israel. Yet, tribes like Ephraim and Manasseh would allow their weakness to get the better of them, make excuses and allow such Canaanites to live with them.

Your weaknesses, when not checked, could be your own recipe for your disaster. Many of us have lived with some weaknesses for far too long and are so are reluctant to make the compromise to fight them off. In such a situation, you are only sitting on a time-bomb. You know for sure it will explode. Be a man, face your fears. You are empowered for such.
