Numbers 25:7-8 KJV
And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it , he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;
[8] And he went after the man of Israel into the tent, and thrust both of them through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her belly. So the plague was stayed from the children of Israel.
Some months ago in my country, the former president rewarded a brave taxi driver for driving into a couple of robbers who had just robbed a lady. The driver received a lot of public attention and rewards for his bravado.
Driving into people is not right, it could land anyone in serious trouble another day, but on this occasion, the Law thought it right, simply because the motives of the culprit were genuinely clean. 🤔
Phinehas took a javelin and run it through an Israelite (v7-8) killing he and a midianite woman instantly. What was God’s response? Generational blessings of peace to that man Phinehas and an everlasting covenant to the priesthood.
God blessed Phinehas because He believed the man was zealous for Him. Every deed genuinely done for God has its reward, no matter how ‘good or evil’ it may seem.
Get rewarded for the right reasons not the wrong ones.
Have a blessed day.
