PURIFICATION RITUALS – Fri, Dec 15, 2017

Numbers 19:17-18 KJV

And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

[18] And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

The terms “clean” and “unclean” were very common to hear in the days of the Israelites. Coming into contact with anything/anyone declared unclean could just make you unclean.

You had to use the Water of Purification on the 3rd and 7th days to cleanse yourself and make yourself clean again. The manner in which this ‘special water’ is prepared in itself is a subject for discussion another day. (See v2 – 10)

In my opinion, things didn’t come that easy at all to the ancient Jews, than they are to us now. Most of us would reject a ritual like this allday, and tag it ‘demonic,’ all because we have a much simpler routine now.

All you need is a simple prayer to cleanse yourself. These are some of the privileges we the new borns have in Christ. Don’t wait till it’s too late to appreciate these privileges.

Have a blessed Friday.
