ANOTHER CHANCE – Mon, Aug 21, 2017

Genesis 21:11-12 KJV

And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son.

[12] And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.

Sarah, Abraham’s wife, had asked him to send Hagar and Ishmael, his son, out of the house. She didn’t want any confusion about who would be her husband’s heir.

Abraham was at the crossroads. The last time she listened to his wife without God’s approval, trouble set in. He wasn’t going to have another episode of what happened the last time.
God came in eventually and concurred with Sarah, so Abraham had to comply against his own wish.

Just because God didn’t use Sarah the first time didn’t mean He couldn’t use her ever again. It is wrong to treat people with disdain or write them off entirely, simply because of a previous experience that was in bad taste.

God gives people second chances and we Christians should know that most especially.
Yes we may be extra careful when dealing with one with a troublesome past, but alas, we need be mindful of what God can do with them. Don’t just write them off, give them another chance as God would.

Have a blessed day.
