And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
When we were kids we were told that the rainbow was God’s way of telling man where the gold was. So that if one mined the area near the end of a rainbow, he was sure to find gold. 😎
Sunday school brought in a new school of thought; the rainbow was a sign that God wasn’t going to destroy mankind with water ever again. Sunday school won!
Contrary to what people say or think, this Noahic Covenant wasn’t just for Noah’s generation. It was/is for ‘perpertual generations’ (v12). God has not changed, He is still God and so has stuck by this word and not done otherwise, though it wasn’t a blood covenant (Please take note).
Covenants are not mere words, you need to honour them, whether a seed covenant, or a love covenant. You are bound by your word as a child of God, so be weary of covenants you get into. God will hold them by you indefinitely.
