1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

When it comes to maintenance of machines and home systems, my dad is first person who comes to mind. His very old Opel Vectra looks and feels like a modern day saloon car. His home appliances are spick and span, all covered and neat, even old remote controls (TV and radio) look brand new.

One time I asked him why he lived that way and his response was, “It’s mine, I bought it with money, so I’ve got to keep it as such. It was not free!”

For him what was most important was that, he paid something to acquire that property. It can’t be treated as ordinary or a free item… no… not at all.

This attitude resonates what Paul speaks of in 1 Cor 6:20, you and I are actually bought at a price and are therefore not our own.

The onus is therefore on us to take very good care of ourselves (our bodies and our souls). And the best way to do this, Paul recommends, is to glorify God in your body and your spirit. Think about this as you go about your activities today.
