Jeremiah 49:12 KJV
For thus saith the Lord ; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it .
The proverbial cup of suffering is usually meant for only those who are supposed to drink from it. So that once you taste from such, your fate is guaranteed.
But how about those who were not meant to drink from such cups and yet are found taking sips and mouthfuls, flirting with trouble? This was the fate of the descendants of Esau, Jeremiah points out.
Many more people, in fact Christians, drink from cups they are/were not supposed to drink from and have brought much much trouble into their own lives.
If I’m to paint different scenarios for which this applies, you’d agree with me that we could go on and on.
Be wise my friend, you don’t need to drink what you must not drink.
Have a blessed day.
