Jeremiah 37:18-19 KJV
Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
[19] Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
As I meditated on these two verses I could not help but sympathize with a king who had been ‘fooled’ by his own prophets. They had prophesied victory for him, though they knew very well that God hadn’t decreed such.
Given the circumstances, the prophets were too terrified to tell King Hezekiah otherwise, probably that is why they did what they did. However, Jeremiah spoke what was from God, yet his words were not given the attention it required. The end was disastrous, to say the least.
Beloved in the Lord, I wish to drum home that not all prophesy is true. In fact, scripture states 1 John 4:1 that…”Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
I know the economic conditions of our time are very harsh now, perhaps much harsher than before, but that shouldn’t make us so gullible ‘any word of prophesy.’
You cannot receive a visa stamp if you have no passport, and you can’t have a baby without having sexual relations with a partner. Of course God can do anything, but please let’s be circumspect, for the days are evil. Eph 5:15-16
Have a blessed day.
