Jeremiah 10:23-24 KJV
O Lord , I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

[24] O Lord , correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

Sometimes I think our generation is so lucky not to witness at first hand, some of the things that happened to Jews we read about in the bible.

I can imagine sitting somewhere without any crime committed then picked up all of a sudden to be stoned because my father sinned gravely. Or even see the earth open and swallow my entire family because of one member’s sin.

People like Jeremiah could identify with scenarios like these because they were firsthand witnesses of some of these, and that is why they could make statements like “correct me but not in your anger, lest i be reduced to nothing.”

Grace abounds in our time, but He doesn’t expect to see you and I taking advantage of that situation to mess up big time. Yes, He will forgive, but only the contrite heart.
