Isaiah 46:9 KJV
Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.
I am reminded of a song I heard the first time when I attended a church at Kaajaanor, around South La Estates some years ago. The song is titled “Give me that old-time religion.”
Words like these make up the lyrics: “It was good for father Abraham, It was good for brother Paul, so it is good enough for me” (paraphrased).
Isaiah compared the gods of Babylon at the time to the God of the Jews (see v9 and 10 above again), they were making a grave mistake.
In my opinion, the gods of our time are even more complex and subtle at the same time. They cut across fashion, technology and the airwaves and so may not be easily identifiable. You may serve them without even realising.
There’s but one God, and He’s as old as He’s young. Don’t be ignorant of the devises of the evil one. I pray God gives you the eye to identify lesser gods the enemy brings into your life, to take away that time you should spend with God.
Have a blessed day.
