Isaiah 38:2-3 KJV
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord ,
[3] And said, Remember now, O Lord , I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
The story of Hezekiah is one that is not new to any of us. Though Isaiah had gone to prophesy Hezekiah’s death, the same prophet had to return to prophesy life to the king…because the king prayed HIMSELF.
I do not despise prophesy nor hate men of God, but over reliance on them gets under my skin. I believe our generation is too reliant on men of God and so have turned some of them into demi-gods. Christians now choose to have a closer relationship with “the prophet” than with God.
Hezekiah faced the wall and called on the God he knew when bad news beckoned, and guess what, God heard him. He needed the prophet Isaiah for the prophesy but NOT for the prayer. He did the latter HIMSELF.
I charge you to develop a lifestyle that gives you enough confidence to go to God in prayer in any situation. Before you call others for help, why don’t you give it a shot first, after all, He that promised is faithful.
Have a blessed day.
