Psalm 115:4-5, 8 KJV
Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
[5] They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
[8] They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
Indeed God hates idols not just because of their immobility and inactivity but also because they compete for His time in our lives.
The Psalmist introduces a different twist to this known fact which caught my attention this morning, “they that make them are like unto them…” wow!!!
For he who idolises, God isn’t pleased with both he and his idol. In fact, both are the same in His sight, according to the Psalmist. Now this is very interesting. Reminds me of a verse that says, “food for the belly and the belly for food, both shall perish.”
For the Christian, nothing should be more important than God! Idols creep in pretty subtly and before we could say Jack Robinson we are already serving them. Please watch out for them, sometimes they come in forms you could never have imagined.
Have a blessed day.
