Psalm 98:4-6 KJV
Make a joyful noise unto the Lord , all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
[5] Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
[6] With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord , the King.
Too many times in the Bible have I seen the phrase “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord.”
What is it about noise that freaks the Lord?
Very notable days in the lives of the Israelites were characterized by noise and loud shouts. Talk of the demise of the walls of Jericho or Jesus’ own triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
Ultimately, when the Son of Man appears in the clouds, we are told that His coming will be accompanied by the blast of the Trumpet and all shall behold.
So what is the place of shouting or making “excessive noise” in church???
Are the examples earlier stated and many more, enough to justify the noise in church today? Is the noise we make today in our time the right kind of noise? These and many more are the questions that flooded my thoughts today. What do you have to say?
