Psalm 49:6-8 KJV
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

[7] None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

[8] (For the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

Does God hate rich people? Of course not! He makes man wealthy but would not contain pride that results from that same wealth He has given. The Psalmist makes a very interesting point most of us are aware of…

Riches cannot buy life!!! I’m very sure that if this wasn’t the case, most would rather be investing into their longevity, “that we should live forever and never see the pit.” – (verse 9, ESV). And no one can bribe God in this, for the wise die and the foolish too die… They both leave their belongings to others.

I know some very young people who are working so hard now to accumulate money. This is good… but I believe our aggression should not relegate our spiritual welfare to the background. This happens at a very slow unnoticeable pace and so could easily overwhelm you before you realise it.

Our spiritual welfare is the most important of all. We may earn good, but let’s remember that only thing matters in the very very long term, say 200yrs from now. What would be your story then?
