Psalm 3:3 KJV
But thou, O Lord , art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
David perhaps wrote this Psalm (i.e. Ps 3) at the difficult time of his life. A time he had to face his own son in combat. When I read it I remember the movie, ‘Three hundred.”
In the movie a lot of focus is made on the ‘shields’ of the Spartans, and so many of their successes were attributed to the Spartan Shield.
Paul the apostle couldn’t have put it any better. He likened the faith of a christian to a shield. (Eph 6)
David didn’t mince words when he wrote Ps 3:3. He likened God’s role in his life to a shield.
You cannot engage in warfare without a shield. Even if you did, you may not last many battles. Christians must develop their shields in these turbulent and perilous times.
The more we develop our faith, through fellowship, reading the Word and Christian literature, consistent prayer life, etc, the more we fortify our shields.
Your shield protects you from the fiery darts of the enemy, don’t look less concerned!
Have a blessed day.
