Job 27:2 KJV
As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul;
I had a friend who went through a lot of difficulties as a young man. His issues never seemed to subside; one trouble came after another each day. Mostly financial though, but they came in drones.
Occasionally, I’d meet him in my neighbourhood in the evenings after a short prayer session and he’d ask why I bothered at all to attend. He was convinced God wasn’t alive. “There’s no God,” he’d simply say.
He wondered why he had to ‘suffer’ that much if there was a God who could hear prayers. I was too young in the faith to convince him, but I thank God he’s a believer now. Job’s statements in 27:2 today reminds me much of this old friend.
Does God really vex our souls like Job said?
Like my friend’s sister, why should a believer die after many years of struggling with an unknown disease even though she served the Lord faithfully even in her condition?
Let’s discuss, and oh have a blessed day.
