1 Chronicles 19:2 KJV
And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.
Sometimes I am tempted to think all that matters as a Christian is to show kindness and compassion to people, especially to those who are in most need of them.
And why won’t I think so?
We all know how Jesus will address the ‘sheep and goats’ on the last day; predicted in Matt 25:31-46. I deduce that compassion and kindness to others are almost the ultimate requirements, of course if they are founded on love!
David used this strategy to cement his rulership and avoid unnecessary enemies. Unfortunately, this one didn’t turn out so good, but his initial intentions were very clear.
Kindness and compassion to another won’t go unrewarded. God has a special package for you and I, who make these our core calling. Never cease to show kindness and compassion when the opportunity brings itself.
Have a blessed Friday.
