And David the king came and sat before the Lord , and said, Who am I, O Lord God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?

Don Moen has a song that with lines like this: “Who am I that you are mindful of me, who am I that you set your love on me, my Creator King.”

In the song ‘Casting Crowns’ the writer wrote, “…not because who I am, but because of what you’ve done, not because of what I’ve done, but because of who you are…”
He recognised that men are like flowers quickly fading, here today but gone tomorrow.

All these songs replayed in my head when I read this verse today, and I could find the parallels in my own life. Who am I?
When David heard of God’s blessings through Nathan the prophet, he couldn’t hold himself.

The Twi rendition is even better: 3de3 b3n ni mi fie? (Hope I got that right) What is my house, that you have brought me to this.
I don’t know how far in life you have come, but I know it is the Lord’s doing. Make time to take stock of your life and appreciate Him.
