Around this point in time, there was explosion of miracles in Israel. Bible scholars call this period the golden era of miracles. Elisha saw his master, Elija, leave in a fiery chariot. One thing that struck me is the verse we look at today.
If the mantle of Elija fell from him, then I want to believe that Elija attempted to go into heaven with his mantle, but God thought otherwise.
Every leader needs a successor. Whoever you are, you still need someone to succeed you in ministry, in your profession, in your family, etc. You just cannot leave with your mantle. You just cannot go (die) with it.
If Elisha was going to receive a double portion of Elija’s anointing, then Elija had to impart something into him, not take it away. Same way you cannot leave your office with all the knowledge you acquired without imparting into somebody else.
You cannot lead a ministry in church and carry all the anointing. You’ve got to raise leaders, you’ve got to pass on the mantle.
I pray none of us goes to the grave with a headload of ideas, plans, knowledge and anointing.
Have a blessed day.
