And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

On the day Jonathan died, his son also became lame. As his maid attempted to flee with the child, it fell and broke its legs. That child was Mephibosheth.

David was an honourable man not just because he was a valiant man of war, but also his resolve to stick to his words and honour his promises.

He had made a promise to his bossom friend Jonathan and was not prepared to forget it even though Jonathan was dead and long gone. By doing what he did, David honoured the dead and still upheld his integrity.

Sticking to what we say or profess with our mouths is very crucial to our definition of who a Christian is. A christian honours his word and until you do same you have no business being one.
