Judges 2:15-16 KJV
Whithersoever they went out, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: and they were greatly distressed.
[16] Nevertheless the Lord raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that spoiled them.
When I was growing up I lived with co-tenant in a compound house in Accra who inflicted much pain and distress to her very young househelp.
I could feel her anguish sometimes as this woman maltreated her.
When time came for the woman to give birth, her baby was autistic!
I’m not concluding that God punished her with autism but all who knew her and her relationship with her househelp easily drew those conclusions.
Even tho the Israelites had now imbibed the ways of the canaanites and enkindled the wrath of the God, God would still turn an eye to them… not just because He had a soft spot for them but because of the distress and pain that their oppressors meted out to them.
Anyone you cause pain and distress to, like Abel, has a voice. And God hears that voice!
Though such persons might not necessarily be good people themselves, remember you are not their judge.
May God help us to be cautious of how we treat other people.
Have a blessed day.
