Joshua 6:18 KJV
And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

A lot had gone on in the past few days of the journey of the Israelites. They had been circumcised at Gilgal and God had cleared every reproach of their past from them.

But the people were moving on to Jericho, a cursed city (see v17), and it was very expedient that they remained clean/pure even in a cursed city, a city they were abt to conquer.

It is very prudent to remain fervent in Lord serving Him (Rom 12:11), especially after we’ve been delivered from a fallen state, cuz the tendency to fall again is rather too easy.

You may have triumphed in Gilgal and are now free of all curses and ancestral hold, but even more important is how you conduct yourselves to prevent further entanglements with the more dangerous curses.
