Matthew 23:23 KJV
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Somebody came to see my friend, Lucy, with a few problems she was having. She lamented how her business, love relationship and everything else were all going south these past few years.
Lucy’s first reaction was whether or not she was paying her tithes. When the lady responded in the affirmative, Lucy asked whether she was “faithful” with the amounts and the time those payments were being made! And that is exactly where their convo caught my attention. 🤓
Jesus rebuked shepherds of His time who never paid heed to intangible virtues like mercy, fair judgements and faith, but would be overly zoomed in on tithing and sabbath laws, simply because those are visible. Jesus referred to the former as weightier matters and I’m moved by such description.

Tithing doesn’t fool the LORD, especially at the expense of the weightier matters of the law.
Yes, tithe, but also be merciful and fair to others, growing your faith in Him. These go hand-in-hand and produce a good yield.
Have a blessed day. #CarllyDevotionals
