BEFORE THE FALL – Tue, Jul 28, 2020

2 Corinthians 12:7 KJV

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

Recently in my country, there’s been a rise in the number of Men of God who are “able to receive revelations” from God. The trend has really become widespread since I get the same feeling in other African countries.

I remember tuning in to a radio station at dawn, sometime in Sandton, and chanced upon a live encounter between a pastor and his flock and it almost felt like I was still home in Ghana.
Clearly, we revere these men extremely, and this usually is the bane of most problems in the body of Christ.

Paul the Apostle had revelations in abundance. His encounters were so common and often he’d forget the details of a couple of them. So God would remind him of his mortal state by introducing a handicap, something to put him in check, “a thorn in his flesh.” Chances are that he could have easily been puffed up, in Paul’s own words.

Pride goes before a fall!
The same gifts that bring you before kings and bring you honour may bring you to your knees if you are not careful.
What makes men celebrate you can catalyse your demise. Pray for the grace to remain humble irrespective of the gift you have, He resists the proud.

Have a blessed day.
