Zechariah 8:4-5 KJV

Thus saith the Lord of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.

[5] And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.

Anyone who has ever lived in a time of war, usually appreciates “Peace” better than those who haven’t.

Having watched video tapes of several wars, be it WWI, WWII or others, one can literally feel the sense of joy on the faces of the people when a “cease fire” is declared or the war is over. That joy of their faces is almost tangible. Everyone, even those fighting, not just the civilians, prefers the peace! So that the best gift for any victim/active participant of war is actually a promise of peace.

The prophet Zechariah spoke these words to the returnees on behalf of Yahweh; “the city will be full of boys and girls playing; old men and women will be seen in the streets…” The message was clear, a peace promise had been made by the LORD to His people.

I pray that this promise of peace will be extended into the homes of all of us reading this. That joy may permeate our homes and infiltrate our workplaces for our sakes. That a promise of a greater peace shall pursue us, in Jesus’s name, Amen.
