Jonah 3:10 KJV
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
I have heard many ask the question, “does God ever change His mind?”
We can look at this in a number of ways: whether we are referring to His judgements concerning our actions OR referring to His Word. Obviously there is a distinction between the two.
When it comes to His Word (Logos/Rhema), we know for a surety that He remains constant. His Word will not change because we are in the 21st century. Neither will it change because we are less privileged than another group. It is what it is.
But the accounts of Abraham and God discussing Sodom and Gomorrah AND that of Hezekiah’s health; not forgetting Nineveh in today’s text, show that indeed God does change His mind/verdict when we put in the ‘appropriate request’ (intercessions).
I pray that like the people of Nineveh, you put in a request before God now. Though you did wrong and invited that curse upon yourself, a genuine and a contrite request can always avert what is bound to happen.
Put in a request now, He is just waiting for you.
Have a blessed day.
