RESTRAIN SELF – Tue, May 14, 2019

Proverbs 25:28 KJV

He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Growing up, I have personally gone through a lot of struggles trying to bring my body under subjection. I believe one of the most difficult people to control are our own selves.

We make rules and choose certain values for ourselves, yet don’t have the will to see them through. I have a countless number of such, when I went against my own guidelines for living.

King Solomon himself wasn’t any less guilty. He knew very well the consequences of his actions. He wrote about them, yet didn’t guard against them.

We can’t win the war for self control on our own. Exercising self restraint in the long term is facilitated by the aid of the Holy Spirit. Call on Him each day for this grace. With Him, it is possible.

Have a blessed day.
