Proverbs 13:3 KJV

He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

Early this morning, while I listened to a short exposition on why Zechariah was kept mute by God, delivered by a very popular man of God, I found a few points interesting.

The preacher argued that at his old age, there was no way Zechariah could have explained to his folks how Elizabeth got pregnant. For a long time he would have to defend himself and the family from an onslaught of questions he may never have answers to. So God zipped it up for him, to protect his family and the seed his wife was carrying.

Many ideas, that were pregnant with much promise, have been aborted and terminated at some point just because the carriers and those very close to them have not been tight lipped about them at the budding stages. There is a time to talk and a time to remain mute about a seed to carry.

I pray for a discerning spirit for each of us, to know when and whom to discuss certain issues with, so destruction will be far from us.
