cease striving II.jpgIsaiah 45:9-10 KJV
Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?

[10] Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?

When I was much younger, I remember respect for parents and the elderly was upheld by all households. I remember how we used to put our hands at our back even when you were being engaged in a simple conversation with the elderly.

I remember the many times I had to say “ofainÉ›” (“please” in the Ga language) in response to anything my dad asked me.
Today, I know a lot of people would argue that, that culture was domineering and suppressed the child to an appreciable extent.

But I believe this culture had its own spiritual impacts on us. If we could be obedient to our earthly parents, then reverence to God became much easier. Isaiah drew parallels to this in his quotes in Is 45:9-10.

Great sorrows befall those who strive with their Maker (God). And this is manifested in those who strive with their earthly parents, spiritual fathers and god-parents. God is God, you either serve Him or remain silent.

Have a blessed day.

FEAR NOT – Fri, Jan 15, 2016

fear-not-2.jpgIsaiah 41:10 KJV
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

When I was a little boy, between the ages of 6 and 8, my mum and I would visit my dad over the weekends at his residence, El Gringo, then a club house of Accra Hearts of Oak.

The first thing I would see each time I woke up is the inscription Isaiah 41:10, hanging right in front of me, because my mat was laid somewhere close to the door. So I would read out the verse each time my eyes opened and before I knew it, I could recite it verbatim.

In my opinion, fear of the unknown is hyped in our part of the world. We fear too many things we haven’t seen and probably will never see. I do not suggest that supernatural powers don’t exist but we need to live as though they don’t, because the Father has taken care of them in advance.

So whether you think an aunt somewhere is doing something to you or an enemy is summoning your spirit somewhere, just remember verses 10-12. He will contend with those who contend against you, period.

Have a blessed Friday.

CLIP THE WINGS – Thu, Jan 14, 2016

wingclippingIsaiah 40:28-30 KJV
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord , the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

[29] He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

[30] Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

This chapter reminds me too well of a song by Don Moen, “Like Eagles,” a song I’ve come to love so much

The verses, i.e. 28-30, are a prelude to one of the most popular verses in all of ‘Christiandom.’ …”those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength…”

God empowers the weak, but these are those who consider themselves so. He renews the strength of those who consider themselves as faint and are not puffed up.

You can only mount up wings as eagles if you don’t have those ‘wings’ already. So clips yours if you need what He gives.

Have a blessed day.

MUTENESS – Wed, Jan 13, 2016

muteIsaiah 39:2 KJV
And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

People had heard of Hezekiah’s recovery from his illness and had come from far away Babylon to see the king in Jerusalem to wish him well. In turn he showed them round the palace and made them see ALL he had and had inherited.

Hezekiah could not read through the disguise. He exposed himself rather too quickly to his enemy, who Isaiah prophesied would later come to loot all that had been shown to him.

It is very important to know whom you share your deepest secrets, sensitive information, or business ideas with. Don’t be too eager to open your mouth to reveal what should be best known to you, at a particular time. Just zip up that mouth!

Too many people have lost valuables, crippled their ministries, missed opportunities, just because they said a little too much than they were supposed to. Be circumspect in your dealings with people, perhaps eventually, you may see the mask.

Have a blessed day.

DO IT YOURSELF – Tue, Jan 12, 2016

DIY - Do It Yourself Colorful Blocks

Isaiah 38:2-3 KJV
Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the Lord ,

[3] And said, Remember now, O Lord , I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

The story of Hezekiah is one that is not new to any of us. Though Isaiah had gone to prophesy Hezekiah’s death, the same prophet had to return to prophesy life to the king…because the king prayed HIMSELF.

I do not despise prophesy nor hate men of God, but over reliance on them gets under my skin. I believe our generation is too reliant on men of God and so have turned some of them into demi-gods. Christians now choose to have a closer relationship with “the prophet” than with God.

Hezekiah faced the wall and called on the God he knew when bad news beckoned, and guess what, God heard him. He needed the prophet Isaiah for the prophesy but NOT for the prayer. He did the latter HIMSELF.

I charge you to develop a lifestyle that gives you enough confidence to go to God in prayer in any situation. Before you call others for help, why don’t you give it a shot first, after all, He that promised is faithful.

Have a blessed day.

ALL SHALL PASS AWAY – Fri, Dec 08, 2015

Isaiah 34:4 KJV
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.

When I was a little boy, a gentleman by name Dodzie, used to visit the house that I lived in at Osu-RE. Everybody, called him pastor, because he seemed to know more about heaven than the average boy.

Whenever he visited, Dodzie would tell us, the children, different stories about Heaven. What was there, what wasn’t there, how one got there, etc.. Some days he’d talk about heavenly creature’s too. It was always a good time and I still have fond memories of those story-nights.

Isaiah’s prophecies included those he saw of the End of Time too. He compared the end of one nation to what he saw in his visions. The host of the heavens will be rolled together like a scroll… (Is 34:4). This resonates with Jesus’ own words and John’s visions in Revelation 21. Dodzie said same!

Whether you believe these or not, whether they’ll happen the way they are stated or not, one thing is true: They were indeed prophesied. Let’s spend more time to study His Word and grow in the Lord.

Have a blessed day.

WOES OF THE SPOILER – Thu, Jan 07, 2016

Isaiah 33:1 KJV
Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

When people are abused at a tender age, social systems usually require that they go through one form of counseling or the other, so that their experience(s) would not influence their adulthood

So one of the chief reasons for these correctional facilities and time with counsellors is to curb perpetration of evil. It is important to end a cycle of  deep hurt and anger that is capped inside man. Otherwise, these could be good fuel for evil to continue.

But Isaiah warns another group of people, who have actually not been abused or treacherously dealt with in the past and yet have taken up a path of meting out evil to others. Great sorrow shall fall on all such people.

For each situation you find yourself in, remember how well you were dealt with when it was your turn, and at least resolve to do SAME, if not BETTER, for another person in the same situation.

Have a blessed day.
