Psalm 127:2 KJV
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Indeed unless the Lord watches over us, our wake-keeping is all in vain, because we are unable to really save or help ourselves.
In this verse (i.e. v2) Solomon brings out a very vital fact of our walk with God; Man is absolutely inadequate, and is in constant need of the Master’s assistance.
The hustle and bustle of City life makes most of us Christians rise up early and sleep late all in the name of work. So that if the Christian gets drawn into this routine, he slowly forgets His maker, spends less quality time with Him, and eventually eats of “the bread of sorrows,” as King Solomon would put it.
Too much of everything is bad, but NOT the over reliance on God.
Yes, there’s no time! But we can always make the time for Him if we really want to.
Put in an effort to touch base with Him each day, so you’d stay away from the bread of sorrows.
Have a blessed day.
