1 Kings 16:33 KJV
And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
What a record to have!
Yet Ahab was king of Israel and was supposed to walk in the ways of David his fore-father
For all these years that Israel changed kings, i.e. Nadab, Basha, Elah, Zimri, Omri and Ahab… Judah had only one king, king Asa, who walked in the ways of the Lord.
The contrast was so obvious. Even curses Joshua had proclaimed hundreds of years ago were re-visited and took effect in Israel, but not Judah. (see verse 34). Ahab was making the headlines for the wrong reasons
We do not need to unearth “buried curses.” In this period of Advent, as we prepare to receive the Lord, the baby King, the Messiah, it is my prayer that we desist from every appearance of sin and evil and keep to the statutes of the Lord. Amen.
Have a blessed day.
