MORE OFFERINGS – Wed, Oct 18, 2017

Exodus 29:45-46 KJV

And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.

[46] And they shall know that I am the Lord their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the Lord their God.

Why did Jews present so many different offerings to Yahweh? In this chapter alone I could count as many as seven of them:

1. Sin offering (v14)
2. Burnt offering (v18)
3. Wave offering (v24, 27)
4. Heave offering (v28)
5. Peace offering (v28)
6. Grain offering (v41)
7. Drink offering (v41)

Of course these were not all, many more would come up in books like Leviticus and Deuteronomy, yet each of these offerings were given unique treatments. No two offerings were the same.

In our time, money has become what we usually present to God as offerings, so we easily grumble when we are entreated to do that many times. It seems monotonous but it actually isn’t.
That God will dwell among us and be our God, we need to release some more offerings, He loves them 😎.

Have a blessed day.

BEAUTIFUL THINGS – Tue, Oct 17, 2017

Exodus 28:2,40 KJV

And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

[40] And for Aaron’s sons thou shalt make coats, and thou shalt make for them girdles, and bonnets shalt thou make for them, for glory and for beauty.

I had noticed a young lad in my church who often came to church late and usually wasn’t as dressed as you’d see him on Weekdays when going to work.

I had the courage to confront him and his response was, “Oh.., but this is church, I can always wear anything…”
Well, he was right, he could come to church in casual wear and slippers, like most of his friends he stood behind the church with. God looks at the heart, right?

Indeed God is more interested in our hearts than our garments, but on two occasions in this chapter, He specifically asked that Aaron’s garments be made beautifully… so much for a God who cares not for beauty!

God likes what is best and beautiful too. Scripture is littered with such. The splendour and array of beauty revealed in heaven by John speaks volumes of the Master’s handiwork.
Show up in best version of yourself when meeting God, He loves it.

Have a blessed day.

ENABLERS – Fri, Oct 13, 2017

Exodus 24:10-11 KJV

And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.

[11] And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.

Among the lot, only Moses had a personal direct relationship with God. Only he had come close enough to Yahweh Himself.

But Moses was not going to be there forever. Even if he did, he couldn’t divide himself into many parts to be at all places at the same time.
So God had to open the invitation to all the other 70 leaders Moses had appointed, following Jethro’s advice.

Yes… God gave them all an encounter, such as they had never experienced in the camp.
It is important to be transparent with those who will run with your vision when you are no more.

Indeed God may be with You, but who says He can’t be with others too. Open up to trusted people and share your vision with them so together you can grow that mandate you carry. Stop wearing yourself out!

Have a blessed Friday.

‘ONE MAN NO CHOP’ – Thu, Oct 12, 2017

Exodus 23:29-30 KJV

I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.

[30] By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land.

One of the things God did for the nomadic Jews was to put fear into all those towns/cities they approached. Some got so afraid, the sent Peace Delegations ahead of Israel’s arrival in their territories.

With all these, one would think Israel would solely occupy the land promised them.
Well, it didn’t turn out that way. The land (promise) was so vast that they had to co-exist with some of the people they came to drive out of the land.

God allowed it. In His wisdom, He made the take-over a gradual process not a one-time event. Sometimes you may have to co-exist with unfriendly parties to succeed.

It could be an unwanted/unfriendly partnership, but surely you know it will give you the leverage you need to eventually stand on your own someday. Please Take it!!! The opportunity may be long gone before you realise it.

Have a blessed day.

RESTITUTION – Wed, Oct 11, 2017

Exodus 22:1 KJV

If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

The Law, given by God through Moses, had very interesting commands. One such is replacing an ox with five (v1) or double what is stolen if caught red handed (v4).

Interesting as these laws are, one can identify a very subtle theme in all or majority of these commands, whether they are on protection of property, safety, etc. That theme is restitution.

I believe the penalties for all the wrongs listed out in this chapter are aimed at replacing what is lost and not just pulling the ear of the culprit.
This is why when you are pleading for forgiveness for a wrong done, you need to make restitution. Return what you have taken. If that can’t be done, return value for it instead.

“I’m sorry” may be good but not always good enough. Go out of your way to replace what’s lost just in a bid to add value to your words. This is scriptural and godly. 😎

Have a blessed day.

THE LAW – Tue, Oct 10, 2017

Exodus 21:1 KJV

Now these are the judgments which thou shalt set before them.

At Mount Sinai, the ten commandments were delivered by God Himself to all the people. They all saw the blinding flashes of lightning and heard the thunderous voice of God. The next few chapters would list what theologians have come to call the Law.

Yes, the 10 commandments were given by God Himself, but at that same mountain, he voice out all the rest of the other commandments the people were supposed to live by. My concordance tells me there were over six hundred of them.

And that they were revealed in three main places; here in at Sinai (Exodus and Leviticus), during the wilderness wanderings (Numbers) and the plains of Moab (Deuteronomy); 613 separate commands ordering their social, moral, political and spiritual lives. (Ref: KJV 2000 Devotional Study Bible, pg 72 – 73)

The Law had an extensive coverage, yet its true purpose of LOVE would be fulfilled by the Son of God many years later. The Law was necessary at the time, Love should rule our hearts in our time.

Have a blessed day.

Exodus 16:4 KJV

Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.

Just a month and a half after the Jews left Egypt, we read here that they started complaining/grumbling/murmuring. What was the issue? They Were hungry. Were they right to complain or not?

Well, let’s put this into context. For the past one and a half months what had they been feeding on? I guess they fed on the spoil from the Egyptians each family had carried along. But how long did that last?

In our time now, we may be more vocal than those Jews were and would have been the first person to post our conditions on social media and other tabloids 😎. Yes, seeing all the Lord had done for them, one may say their complaints were not justified, but it sure brought them food for 40yrs non-stop.

Employ some tact when making your appeal to those who have authority over you. Like Moses, they may not like it, but those they report to may see some validity in your requests.

Have a blessed day.
