Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

[33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

I learnt today, that one James Kelly had it as a Scottish proverb in 1721 to mean, “raising an ill name on a man on purpose to prevent his advancement.” – Wikipedia

One of the negative traits of man is not to see the good in others but readily tell a fault and judge him based on that single account. This is what engulfed the hearts of the Pharisees in their one-on-one encounter with Jesus. In their own words, “for a good work we stone thee not…” they clearly admitted Jesus had been up to some good. Envy has a way of masking all the good in others.

In our families and various places of work, we need to be able to see the good in others and highlight them over their weaknesses. It isn’t a godly thing to constantly punch holes in what others do.

One bad nut shouldn’t spoil the entire broth for us. We can’t live as though there was never a thing like a second chance. Let’s put the spotlight on the strengths of our colleagues and not their weaknesses.
