I WILL SING – Thu, Jul 14, 2016

Habakkuk 3:17-18 KJV

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:
[18] Yet I will rejoice in the Lord , I will joy in the God of my salvation.

In one of Don Moen’s classic, “I will Sing,” He preludes the song with these verses. I didn’t choose to meditate on them merely because of my love for this Mr. Moen, but because I can relate to these beautiful words of Habakkuk.
Indeed the yoke of Christ is light and His burden is easy, but that doesn’t warrant a smooth turn of events for those who trust in the Lord. The fig may not blossom, nor fruits be in the vines.
Your physical or spiritual expectations may not be met and the very reasons why you undertake projects may fail. Productivity may rather seem to be veering away from you… but yet… you NEED to rejoice in the God of your salvation.
Christianity requires that ‘even in our darkest moments, through the sorrow and the pain,’ we should sing. What is your response to such times in your life?

Have a blessed day.
